It’s All About the Pom-Poms! By Ms. Gwen Clark

As you are aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is the leading killer among women aged 40 –59. Most women diagnosed with breast cancer have no known risk factors. All women, and even men, are at some risk.
In an effort to help promote October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the WHS cheerleaders and “future” cheerleaders wore their pink during the Youth Night Show during halftime to show their support.
During the show, they  performed a half–time routine which included some cheers and a dance to “Goodbye,” which they learned at the cheer clinic.   The “Goodbye” song was symbolically a message to cancer itself— so long and goodbye.
Chrystal Harsha, a former employee of WCS, is a cancer survivor and is participating in the AVON BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION WALK in Charlotte, NC the weekend of October 23-24. The WHS cheerleaders and some participants from the clinic have donated $100.00 to Mrs.Harsha’s  walk in Charlotte.
